JAMAICA TRIUMPH IN CWI WOMEN’S T20 BLAZE

Jamaica hammered Leeward Islands by 124 runs to snatch the CWI Women T20 Blaze trophy ahead of Barbados on net run rate Tuesday.
The Jamaicans posted a massive 170-5 at the National Stadium in Guyana.
Their assault on the Leewards was spearheaded by Natasha McLean and Stafanie Taylor.
McLean smashed 83 off 54 balls inclusive of nine fours and three sixes and Taylor struck a 51-ball 56.
Saneldo Willett and Amanda Edwards picked up two wickets each.
Set 171 for victory, or score 120 to deny Jamaica the title, the Leewards were held to 46-3.
Heading into the first match of day, Barbados had one hand on the trophy after beating Jamaica in the top of the table clash on Monday.
However, Trinidad & Tobago spoiled the Bajans’ celebration with a 19-run upset victory.
Batting first T&T scored what appeared to be a gettable 108-7, but Barbados in reply were restricted to 89-7.
Off-spinner Anisa Mohammed grabbed 3-11 off three overs.
