JAMAICA’S ELAINE THOMPSON-HERAH BREAKS OLYMPIC RECORD TO WIN 100M

Elaine Thompson-Herah set a new Olympic record of 10.61 seconds to lead a Jamaican sweep of the women’s 100m at the Tokyo Olympics. Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Shericka Jackson secured silver and bronze in 10.74 and 10.76 respectively.

Thompson-Herah looked imperious as she defended her Olympic title to become the fastest woman alive. She broke the 10.62 set in 1988 by the USA’s Florence Griffith Joyner.
