JOELLA LLOYD TAKES TO THE TRACK IN HEAT 3 OF 100M THIS EVENING

Antigua and Barbuda’s sprint doyenne Joella Lloyd will start in the third of seven heats in the 100m at the World Championships set to speed off about 8:15pm Eastern Caribbean Time on Saturday. Lloyd will be aiming to secure a berth in the semi finals by finishing in the top three for automatic qualification. The three athletes with the fastest times outside if the automatic qualifying spots will also progress to the semi-finals.

Lloyd has the fourth fastest season’s best of the athletes facing the starter in heat three having run 11.08 on the US collegiate circuit. World number one ranked and the fastest woman alive, Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson Herah with a 10.79 seconds season’s best, Nigeria’s Nzubechi Grace Nwokocha with a season’s best of 10.97 and Israel’s Diana Vaisman with 11.06 are the three other athletes in heat 3 who have gone faster this season.

The 100m heats for women open the afternoon session of day two of the Championships in Eugene, Orgeon in tge United States.
