Leader of the Opposition in China

The Hon. Gaston Browne, Leader of the Opposition, left the island on Friday for the People’s Republic of China as head of a three person Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) delegation.

The delegation includes his wife, Maria Browne and Ambassador Lionel “Max” Hurst.

The visit includes stops in Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai, Xiamen and Beijing culminating in a few days in the UK where the group will meet with several investors.

While in China, the delegation will meet with high ranking Communist Party officials and Ministers of Government.

According to a release, the discussions are intended to surround, methodologies for any future cooperation, surrounding joint venture initiatives, trade and investments and renewable energy solutions for Antigua and Barbuda.

The delegation will also reassure their Chinese counterpart of their unwavering support for the One China Policy and cooperation in the international fora on many issues to include climate change.
