Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked as manager of English Premier League club Manchester United, following a string of disappointing results. His sacking comes on the heels of a 4-1 defeat at Watford. The club said in a statement: “It is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision.” The team has won only one of their last seven premier league matches and are now seventh in the table.

BBC Sport says First-team Manager Michael Carrick has been placed in temporary charge of the club.
