MEHUL CHOKSI’S HABEAS CORPUS APPLICATION ADJOURNED

A High Court judge in Dominica has adjourned Mehul Choksi’s Habeas Corpus application to next Wednesday, giving respondents time to respond.

Choksi brought the matter against Dominica’s Attorney General and Police Chief.

 

Lawyers for the Indian-born mogul are trying to get authorities to release him from custody.

Choksi, who has Antiguan CIP citizenship, was reported missing in Antigua Sunday.

Days later, Dominican law enforcers reported they had taken him into custody for entering their country illegally.

Choksi says he was abducted in Antigua and taken against his will to Dominica via a yacht.

His attorneys filed the writ of Habeas Corpus Thursday, arguing authorities had detained their client for longer than legally permitted.
