ONDCP Intercepts 3 Kilos of Cocaine

cocaine 3 kilosA 60 year-old Hatton resident is one of two men, who appeared before a Magistrate earlier today (Wednesday) on drug charges.

Charles Samuel of Hatton and Christophe Blum of Germany were taken into police custody, after officials from the Office of National Drug Control and Money Laundering Policy (ONDCP) intercepted the German man, who was discovered with 3 kilos of cocaine as he attempted to depart Antigua for the United Kingdom last Sunday.

Blum has been charged with Possession; Possession with intent to Transfer; Being in Concern with the supply of Cocaine and Attempting to Export Cocaine, while Samuel is charged with Possession of Cocaine and Being in concern with the supply of Cocaine.

Due to the quantity of the illegal substance, both men will not be required to plead in the lower court, since the charges they face are indictable, and must be tried in the High Court.

The ONDCP estimates the wholesale value of the seized items to be more than a hundred thousand dollars.

The cost associated with 1 kilo of Cocaine in the UK is valued at approximately five times the local cost per kilo.
