PM BROWNE DEFENDS ULTIMATUM FOR UNDOCUMENTED MIGRANTS TO REGULARISE STAY
Prime Minister the Right Hon. Gaston Browne is defending a new ultimatum for undocumented immigrants in Antigua and Barbuda to regularize their stay.
The cabinet says, with immediate effect, immigrants whose legal status in Antigua and Barbuda has expired, will have a maximum of 60 days to regularize their status with the immigration department.
Prime Minister Browne says extensions should only be granted where there are legitimate reasons for a person to remain in the country.
He is also staunchly rejecting suggestions that the government’s approach is anti-immigrant.
