PM BROWNE POINTS TO ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called for reflection on the major environmental threats faced by small island states such as Antigua and Barbuda.

In his address to the UN Security Council on Climate Change, the country’s leader, who is also chairman of the Alliance of Small Island States, AOSIS, says the hazards to peace and security are mainly natural water-based disasters.

 

Referencing the 2017 passing of Hurricane Irma and the subsequent decimation of Barbuda, the Prime Minister reminds if nothing is done about climate change, the effects will be devastating.
