Antigua and Barbuda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. John Ashe has been hailed as one of the finest and most accomplished diplomats in the UN system and the history of Antigua and Barbuda.

This has come from Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Baldwin Spencer who was congratulating Ambassador Ashe on assuming the Presidency of the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly last week.

Prime Minister Spencer, who has held the Ministerial Chairmanship of the Group of 77, says that the UN General Assembly could not have been in safer hands during this difficult period. He added that Ambassador Ashe is a man of personal integrity and is considered the go-to person at the UN when resolutions are sought to pressing issues.

The PM says as President of the 68th Session, Ambassador Ashe will also be ideally placed to make important contributions on behalf of Antigua and Barbuda and CARICOM when the International Conference on Small Island Developing States convenes next year at the United Nations.

PM Spencer concludes that Ambassador Ashe is deserving of the nation’s praise and honor and on behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda congratulates him on an impressive career and for attaining the Presidency post.
Prime Minister Spencer will on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. deliver Antigua and Barbuda’s statement at the General Assembly.
