PM Spencer says He Will Not be Persuaded

Prime Minister Dr. the Hon Baldwin Spencer has described the actions of the opposition ABLP as unnecessary bitterness in their actions against him for not setting a date for General elections.

Spencer in an address to the nation said that he is alarmed at the malicious misinformation and the level of concerted orchestrated attempts to mislead and misguide the population.

The nation’s leader, who is the sole authority with responsibility for setting the date of the country’s general elections points to areas why a date cannot be set just yet.

The ABLP is appealing the courts of Antigua and Barbuda ruling on the challenges of issues which was raised on matters of the Boundaries Commission Report and the Re-registration Exercise.

In this regard Spencer believes that the ABLP has exercised their right and has since escalated these decisions to the Appeal Court which the decisions from are still being awaited.

Spencer re-affirms his administration’s position in light of these developments.

The nation’s leader adds that any delay in the setting of the date of the elections, therefore, is outside his power. Spencer though, asserts that the opposition leader is wrongfully and deceitfully laying blame for the delay on him. He took the opportunity to inform the masses that he will not be persuaded.
