POLICE USE RUBBER BULLETS IN SUBDUING SIBLINGS IN NEWFIELD

Police say they were forced to resort to the use of rubber bullets to subdue and detain a man in Newfield Monday evening following a frightening chain of events.

Police received a report that two brothers, one armed with a cutlass and the other with a piece of stick, were acting strangely and chasing members of their families.

ABS News understands there are three houses on the property and some of the relatives had to lock themselves inside to avoid injury.

We understand the siblings became even more menacing when law enforcers arrived.

The men reportedly started hurling items and broke windows and one even climbed onto the roof of one of the houses and threatened to harm himself.

Police had to call for back-up and resorted to the use of rubber bullets to subdue the men.

One was detained and the other eluded capture.

None of the family members was injured and investigations continue.
