RECONSTITUTED SENATE MEETS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE GENERAL ELECTION

Leader of government business in the senate, Shenella Govia, has reaffirmed the value of Parliament’s Upper House in the country’s liberal democracy.

She was addressing the first sitting of the Senate since the April 30 general election which was won in a landslide by the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party.

Speaking at the same sitting, Senate president Alincia Williams Grant indicated she is hopeful that the final seat in the Upper House will be occupied by a young woman.
