SELECT STUDENTS TO RETURN TO FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING

Cabinet, on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer and the Director of Education, has decided only select students will return to face-to-face learning when schools reopen for Term 3 on April 12, 2021.

In Primary Schools, 5th and 6th Graders will return, while in Secondary Schools, 4th and 5th Formers will return. All 6th formers may return as well.

Education Director Clare Browne says the decision is steeped in considerations of safety as the Ministry of Education follows the epidemiology closely. He adds the decision applies to both public and private educational institutions.

Meanwhile, Information Minister the Hon Melford Nicholas maintains while the Government has facilitated the widespread importation and distribution of learning devices to students, the support of those students in the remote environment is the responsibility of the entire community.
