Senators Comment On Contentious Debate About ABST Concession For Sandals…..

Members of the Upper House of Parliament have added their views to the situation surrounding Sandals’ push for an extension of concessions on the Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST).

In voicing his support for the Prime Minister’s actions, Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Senator Lennox Weston, says the country has to be bold with investors.

He adds that the controversy goes beyond taxes and is nothing personal against hotel mogul and owner of the Sandals Chain, Gordon “Butch” Stewart.

However, Senate minority leader, Harold Lovell, has staunchly defended the actions of the previous UPP administration, indicating that the government at that time, had the people’s best interests at heart.
