SIR RONALD SANDERS URGES TANGIBLE SUPPORT FOR HAITI’S SECURITY EFFORTS

Antigua and Barbuda’s permanent representative to the Organisation of American States, Ambassador Sir Ronald Sanders, has made a pointed call to the international community to back its commitment with “resources and resolve” for security efforts in Haiti.

Sir Ronald says renewing the mandate of the gang suppression force in the French-speaking Caricom country will not be enough without the necessary resources to support its operations.

He was speaking at a meeting of the OAS’ Permanent Council on Wednesday, as the United Nations Security Council prepares to consider renewal of the force’s mandate before the end of September.
