St George MP Welcomes Shawnisha Hector’s Inclusion In Windies’ WC Squad
Member of Parliament for St. George and Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, the Honourable Michael Freeland, is extending heartfelt congratulations to Antiguan cricketer Shawnisha Hector following her selection to the West Indies Women’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Hector, who hails from New Winthorpes in the constituency of St. George, has earned a place among the region’s finest players as the West Indies prepares for its quest to capture a second ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title, ten years after their historic 2016 triumph.
Freeland described Hector’s achievement as a proud and defining moment not only for St. George, but for Antigua and Barbuda as a whole.
“Shawnisha Hector’s selection to the West Indies Women’s team is an extraordinary accomplishment and a powerful reminder that greatness can emerge from any community once there is discipline, sacrifice and belief,” Freeland said.
