The Nation To Receive Minimum Wage Increase

Cabinet has agreed to recommendations put forward by the Minimum Wage Advisory Committee to increase the minimum the minimum wage from $7.50 cents to$8.20 cents.

That’s according to Labour Minister Drthe honorable Errol Cort speaking at the TUC’s Labour Day rally on Monday.

He says consultations will be held with the relevant stakeholders on the way forward as further studies need to be conducted.

Trade unions have been clamoring for an increase in the minimum wage for several years.

They say it is compulsory,since the cost of living continues to rise, making it difficult for many workers to make ends meet on the current rate.
