VETERAN PHYSICIAN RAISES ALARM ABOUT CHRONIC DISEASE THREAT

Consultant physician and former head of the department of medicine at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, Dr Jason Belizaire, is warning that Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) continue to pose the greatest threat to the health of people in Antigua and Barbuda.

He says unhealthy diets, physical inactivity and other lifestyle factors are driving an alarming rise in chronic illnesses.

He was speaking at a health symposium at American University of Antigua, AUA.
