‘YOU EVIDENTLY DIDN’T READ THE DOCUMENT’ – PM BROWNE SCOLDS OPPOSITION LEADER ON BRIDGING FACILITY

Prime Minister and Finance Minister the Right Honourable Gaston Browne was miffed in Parliament on Monday, as he rejected claims from Opposition Leader Hon. Jamale Pringle that the government was being deceptive regarding a resolution before the Lower House.

The resolution was seeking parliament’s approval for a guarantee of the first XCD$87 million of a XCD$167 million loan from a syndicate of local and regional banks to the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board.

The $87 million will be used as a bridging facility to pay existing liabilities and provide an advance of $20 million from a $100 million loan for road repairs.

The prime minister bristled in response to claims from the opposition leader that the Transport Board would receive only $20 million for road repairs.
