80 Yachts Expected in Antigua for Returning Salty Dogs Rally
Approximately 80 yachts are expected to arrive in Antigua between November 10 and 15 for the Salty Dogs Rally, with most planning to remain based on the island throughout the winter.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism Michael Freeland said the rally will return following its visit last year.
The arrivals are expected to generate business for marinas, provisioning companies, restaurants and marine service providers, particularly from vessels remaining for the season.
Ahead of the rally, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority provided participants with packages containing local products and destination information. English Harbour Rum sponsored rum miniatures, while the packages also included hot sauce, caps and marine guides.
Devin Joseph, the authority’s Yachting Business Development Manager, made the presentation on its behalf.
The initiative forms part of efforts to encourage participating sailors to spend more time in Antigua and return for future visits.
