Kyjah Grayman emerged as the Overall Reader at the St. Philip South Reading Competition on Saturday, October 17, as ten young participants from communities across the constituency showcased their reading skills.

Held at Freetown Primary School, the competition featured three age categories, with parents and supporters filling the room to encourage the children.

Z’ Mar Massicot won the six-to-eight age category, while Grayman topped the nine-to-eleven group before securing the overall title. Jahrell Joseph won the twelve-to-fourteen category.

The event forms part of Hon. Kiz Johnson’s efforts to encourage young people in her constituency through education, while giving children an opportunity to develop confidence in front of an audience.

Johnson said the competition also sought to strengthen the relationship between parents and children through preparation and encouragement.

“This initiative was also designed to bring parents closer to their children as they helped them to practise and encouraged them to be their best for this competition,” she said.
