Former UN General Assembly President John Ashe Dies
Former UN General Assembly President John Ashe is dead.
Ashe reportedly died Wednesday afternoon from a massive heart attack.
Prior to his death, Ashe was accused by US prosecutors of taking $1.3 million in bribes from Chinese businessmen during his tenure.
He was one of seven individuals charged since October 2015 in connection with the bribery scheme.
Ashe received more than $800,000 from Chinese businessmen to support their interests within the UN and Antigua.
He was 61 years old.
