A Kittitian Cricketer Is Nabbed On Drug Charges At The VC Bird International Airport
A professional Leeward Islands cricketer was arrested Monday at the V.C. Bird International Airport.
Twenty three year old Akeem Monsell Saunders of St. Kitts was found with 13 grams of cannabis concealed in a shoe in his suitcase.
The illegal substance was discovered after the K9 unit sniffed out his luggage and a detailed search was carried out.
The cannabis has an estimated street value of $130.
Saunders was in transit to St. Kitts from Jamaica on Caribbean Airlines Flight No. 459 and due to depart to St. Kitts on LIAT Flight 521.
The offenses include Possession of 13 grams of cannabis and importation of 13 grams of cannabis.
The cricketer was taken to police headquarters as the police conduct further investigations.
