SURGICAL MASK DOES NOT PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19
HIV/AIDS Clinical Coordinator Dr. Maria Pereira says wearing surgical mask does not prevent you from contracting COVID-19.
She says the N-95 mask must be the right size and fitted snugly on the person wearing it.
She says persons at higher risk such as those with diabetics, hypertension and sickle cell disease can wear masks when interacting with several people such as when they go to the supermarket.
She says if gloves are worn they should be discarded immediately after touching surfaces or items as they can carry around and transfer the virus.
