STATE OF EMERGENCY EXTENDED

Parliament’s Lower House has approved the extension of the state of emergency for three months to October 31. All government lawmakers voted in support of the resolution, Opposition Leader Hon. Jamale Pringle voted against the extension, while Member of Parliament for Barbuda, Hon. Trevor Walker abstained in the vote. The resolution will need approval in the Upper House of the country’s bi-cameral legislature.
