TOURISM AUTHORITY CEO SAYS WORST IS BEHIND US

Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Colin James says the worst has passed for the country’s tourism.

Most of the twin- island state’s revenue is gained through tourism which has been hard hit by the COVID- 19 pandemic.

However, James says there is reason to be hopeful of a rebound in the industry.

He says for April 2021, over 9,000 tourists visited the destination.

The performance of the country’s main tourism market, the United States has been impressive, falling just about 33% below its best performance in 2019.

In April 2021, 7,000 visitors arrived from the US versus 11,000 arrivals in 2019.

The ABTA CEO was speaking as a guest on ABS’s Friday edition of Antigua and Barbuda Today.
