SIDS COMMISSION A COP26 HIGHLIGHT
The establishment of the Commission of Small Island States on Climate Change and International Law is likely to be one of the most significant outcomes of COP26.
So says Prime Minister Hon Gaston Browne who chairs the Alliance of Small Island States, (AOSIS) and who co-chairs the SIDS Commission.
The commission creates an avenue through which larger countries can be held accountable for their role in global warming and its impact on the most vulnerable states.
The accord between this country and Tuvalu to form the commission was signed last week.
Prime Minister Browne adds the commission is open to all SIDs.
