RISK TO LEEWARDS FROM ERIN HAS RISEN, BUT IMPACTS REMAIN UNCERTAIN

Residents in Antigua and Barbuda are being urged to closely monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Erin, which is likely to move near or just north of the Northern Leeward Islands over the weekend.

Erin continues moving westward at 22 miles per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour.

The National Hurricane Centre expects the storm to begin strengthening by late Wednesday and become a hurricane by late Thursday.

It is the fifth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

Meteorologist, Orvin Paige, says “the risk for the Leewards has increased just a little bit…but still presents an uncertain scenario in terms of impacts.”

He provided an update during the ABS Evening News Tuesday.
