MINISTER TURNER SAYS OPPOSITION LEADER BENEFITTED FROM UNLAWFUL DUTY WAIVER

Social and Urban Transformation Minister Hon. Rawdon Turner wants Opposition Leader Hon. Jamale Pringle to be held to account for allegedly benefitting from unlawful duty waivers on vehicles purchased for his company.

Minister Turner raised the issue during his contribution to the budget debate in Parliament on Monday, firing back at opposition criticisms of Works Minister Hon. Maria Browne.

The comment led to testy exchanges across the aisle in Parliament, with the opposition members heard calling for an investigation.

However, Minister Turner insisted the opposition leader and another member who benefitted from the waivers must indicate how they received those waivers.

Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne recently showed photographs of vehicle documents with illegal waivers for at least two opposition members, one of whom runs a car rental outfit.
