DRIVE WITH CAUTION THIS CHRISTMAS
Congestion and risky driving behaviour, particularly double parking, speeding, and impaired driving, have led to an increase in the number of accidents already this holiday season.
According to Superintendent Elson Quammie, several major roadways remain high-risk during this period. Police are, therefore, urging motorists to use alternative East–West routes, including Redcliffe Street, High Street, Long Street, and St. Mary’s street. Drivers are also being encouraged to park on the outskirts of the city where possible to help reduce congestion.
More than 20-thousand cruise passengers are expected over the next two days and taxi operators and delivery drivers also have to navigate the busy streets.
