New 1% Tax Hits Caribbean Cash Transfers 

Starting January 1, 2026 sending cash from the U.S. to the Caribbean just got a bit more expensive. A new law adds a 1% tax on certain international money transfers sent with cash, money orders, or cashier’s cheques. This affects U.S. citizens and non-citizens, students, and military personnel sending money home.
