PM BROWNE WANTS EU AND CARIBBEAN TO ‘STAND TOGETHER IN DEFENDING MULTILATERALISM’

Antigua and Barbuda is again in the international spotlight, as the country hosts the First Plenary Session of the Caribbean-European Union Parliamentary Assembly.

Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne told the opening ceremony on Monday that the Caribbean and the EU “must stand together in defending multilateralism.” He was speaking against the backdrop of the unravelling of the post-World War II global order.

The Assembly being hosted in Antigua is the first regional gathering of Cariforum and European lawmakers following the signature of the new Samoa Agreement, which focuses on region-specific priorities.

The assembly represents the latest high-level gathering to be hosted by the twin-island state at the conference centre of the American University of Antigua, AUA.
