CHARLES FERNANDEZ SUGGESTS ELECTION RESULT IS AN INDICTMENT ON UPP LEADERSHIP
Member of Parliament-elect for St John’s Rural North, Charles Fernandez, says the main opposition United Progressive Party must undergo major leadership change and restructuring. He was speaking after being elected for a fourth time, as part of a landslide 15-2 victory for the governing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party in Thursday’s general elections. Fernandez says the result showed the opposition required a “new leader with a vision” and a more coherent slate of candidates. He said the opposition’s candidate strategy would require significant re-organisation before it could mount a stronger challenge in future elections.
