The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank is emphasizing the importance of prudent spending and fiscal buffers, as the Currency Union faces the impacts of global economic shocks.

These include the war in the Middle East, which has resulted in the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping lane through which a fifth of the world’s energy passes.

Deputy Governor of the ECCB, Dr Valda Henry, commented on the issue during an exclusive interview with ABS News on Friday.
