HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES APPROVES RESOLUTION ON THIRD-COUNTRY NATIONALS
Parliamentarians have voted in support of a resolution outlining the principles that will guide ongoing negotiations with the United States over the possible transfer of third-country nationals from the US to Antigua and Barbuda.
The resolution establishes the safeguards and conditions under which the government may continue discussions with Washington.
Prime Minister the Right Honourable Gaston Browne told Parliament’s Lower House on Tuesday that bringing the resolution to the legislature would ensure that the government’s position and the documents are placed on the official parliamentary record.
Antigua and Barbuda is now the first country to have taken this thorny issue to its Parliament for debate.
