ATTORNEY GENERAL ASSURES OF EFFORTS TO IMPROVE MEDICAL INSURANCE FOR POLICE
The government is working to provide more protection for police officers through additional insurance.
Attorney General and Public Safety Minister, Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin made the announcement during the Passing Out Parade for 45 new police recruits on Thursday.
His announcement comes in the wake of the government footing the bill for injured police officer Senior Sergeant Jeffery Benjamin ‘s treatment in Trinidad.
The government has committed to covering medical and transportation costs to the tune of about US$50,000.
This was in efforts to save one of the officer’s legs, after he sustained serious injuries in a recent traffic crash.
