Gasoline Prices in A&B Set For Further Increase This Week

Energy prices are on the rise again in Antigua and Barbuda amid global developments, primarily the war in Iran and the disruption of shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab-al-Mandab Strait.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister and Finance Minister, the Right Honourable Gaston Browne, during a ceremony to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on Tuesday.

The prime minister made it clear his administration has no control over the exogenous factors which are fuelling these increases.

He did not disclose the level of the increase, but ABS News understands that the adjustment will see gasoline prices climbing by over $1.00 per gallon.

An announcement of the exact figure is expected by later today and will take effect this week.

It is not clear whether diesel prices will be impacted by this latest round of increases.

Gasoline and diesel prices rose by $2.00 at the start of September, to $16.50 and $16.25 per gallon respectively.
