ANTIGUA BLACK PINEAPPLE PRODUCTION TO BE TURBOCHARGED FOLLOWING TISSUE CULTURE BOOST

Pineapple plantlets produced in a tissue culture laboratory in St Vincent and the Grenadines have begun arriving in Antigua and Barbuda, with thousands more on the way.

The planting material was sent to the fellow OECS territory to ensure the speedy resuscitation of the iconic fruit in the twin-island state.

Antigua and Barbuda has since then established a state-of-the-art tissue culture laboratory in a major fillip for food security.
