The Department of Environment is taking proactive steps to alleviate the impact of soaring temperatures.
Director of the Department, Amb. Diann Black Layne has revealed in an exclusive interview with ABS News that the Department will be selling air-conditioning units at 40 percent below market value.
The first shipment of units is expected to arrive by March, serving as a trial run to gauge public demand.
Ambassador Black Layne makes it clear however that the Department will not be seeking to disrupt the equilibrium of the market. She says, “We don’t want to complete with the private sector, so will cap the number per homes so if you need an extra one you will have to go to the private sector and purchase it.”
