FEMALE PEDESTRIAN BECOMES THE COUNTRY’S FIRST ROAD FATALITY FOR 2022

 

A 29 year old woman from Yorks Village who was struck by a vehicle on Friar’s Hill Road this morning has become the country’s first road fatality for the year.

 

She succumbed to her injuries at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, hours after the EMS took her from scene.

 

Police say she was struck by a car about 5:45 as she walked from East to West in the vicinity of Village Walk. The Toyota Crown was being driven by a male motorist.

 

When ABS News arrived on the scene around 6am, the woman was on a stretcher and moaning audibly as Emergency Medical Technicians attended to her injuries.

 

The driver who was lying on the road close to his vehicle, seemed to be in shock but did not appear to have been injured.

 

The police have begun their investigations into the incident.
