House of Representatives Has First Meeting

The House of Representatives had its first meeting on Wednesday, where the elected members of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) took the official oath of Parliament.

The members of the Opposition United Progressive Party were noticeably absent after indicating in writing on Tuesday that they would be boycotting the proceedings due to short notice.

The meeting also featured the official nomination and appointment of a new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sir Gerald Watt QC.
