Trial Set For Prison Officer

An October trial has been set for the Prison Officer who attempted to smuggle contraband into Her Majesty’s Prison over the weekend.

Michael Mourillon, 32, appeared before a Magistrate on Monday facing several charges, including drug possession. He pleaded guilty to possession of 40.8 grammes of cannabis, but not guilty to possession with intent to transfer or sell the drug to anyone.

Mourillon was granted bail, and must report three days per week at the police station until his trial later this year.

He was busted by police officers at Her Majesty’s Prison on Saturday carrying several items deemed illegal into the penal institution.

Among the charges were conveying 153 grams of “High Leaf”, 6packs of cigarette wrapping paper, 12 cigarette lighters, a pair of scissor a knife and a cellular phone into Her Majesty’s Prison.
The discovery took place around 10pm on Saturday.

The prison guard’s arrest came as police officers were posted at the Coronation Road facility following the escape of Avie Howell and Kenroy Marshall, both of whom escaped mysteriously from maximum security where they were being held.

Howell who was one of two convicted for the murders of Ben and Catherine Mullany was shot and killed on Friday, while Marshall was caught on Saturday, but not before he was shot by police.
