KEELING POINT PIER COLLAPSE

A portion of Keeling Point Pier collapsed Thursday morning, sending fishermen and their day’s catch into the water.

ABS understands there were no serious injuries resulting from the incident.

Speaking to our newsroom earlier today, fishermen complained of the dilapidated condition the pier had been in for years.

Deputy Chief Fisheries Officer Tricia Lovell says there is no agency responsible for the upkeep of the pier, erected as a temporary facility years ago during work on the Market Wharf.
