TROPICAL STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FOR LEEWARD ISLANDS EXCEPT MONTSERRAT

Published

on

A tropical storm watch is now in effect for Antigua and Barbuda and the rest of the Leeward Islands except for Montserrat. This has been triggered by the approach of Tropical Depression 13 to the area. It is just over 600 miles East of Antigua and Barbuda with winds of 35 miles per hour moving West North West at 21 miles per hour. The depression is expected to strengthen into a Tropical Storm by the time it is closest to Antigua and Barbuda late Friday. Based on the forecast track, it is expected to pass North of the twin-island state, with Barbuda on the southern edge of the cone of uncertainty. A tropical storm watch means tropical storm-force winds are possible somewhere within the watch area in less than 48 hours. Residents are being urged to activate their disaster plans. Stay tuned to ABS on all platforms for more on this development.
