PM BROWNE EXPLAINS WHY ‘BILINGUAL AGENDA’ IS IN ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA’S INTEREST

Prime Minister the Right Honourable Gaston Browne is defending the move to make Spanish Antigua and Barbuda’s official second language.

The head of government says the step is important as the country’s international profile continues to grow.

He says if Antiguans and Barbudans are to compete for high-level opportunities across the region and beyond, a second language will be a major advantage.

The Ministry of Education will now be tasked with developing the framework to integrate the initiative into the school curriculum, along with other supporting measures.

Prime Minister Browne was speaking on the Browne and Browne Show over the weekend.
