MORE COVID-19 VARIANTS OF CONCERN ARE ON THE WAY
Vice Chair of the National Technical Working Group on Coiid-19 Vaccines, Dr. Courtney Lewis, has affirmed the statement by the World Health Organization that more Covid-19 variants are on the way.
The WHO’s Technical Lead Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove had earlier stated the feared Delta variant of the virus would not be the last variant of concern to the regulatory body.
Dr. Lewis says while there is apathy and vaccine hesitance, Covid-19 has been mutating to ‘get better at killing the population’.
He is encouraging the populace to seek as much information as possible from credible sources and take one of the vaccines on offer to help the country get to herd immunity. This will help ward off the potentially devastating effects of any variants of Covid-19.
