WHO PROVIDES UPDATE ON GLOBAL COVID-19 RESPONSE
Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation says almost a year since the first COVID-19 vaccine was approved, the world is still reporting some 50 thousand cases each week and health systems being overwhelmed.
WHO Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says countries have the tools to end increasing deaths and hospitalizations.
The WHO said on Thursday it’s a race to vaccinate 40% of people in every country against covid 19 by the end of 2021 and 70% by mid-2022.
However, Dr. Tedros admits vaccines alone will not end the pandemic.
