NO IRREGULARITIES REGARDING NIGERIAN CHARTER FLIGHT – IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT
The Immigration Department says passengers on a charter flight from Nigeria on Tuesday morning satisfied all entry requirements, including declaration of their places of accommodation. The Department issued a news release Tuesday evening, outlining the chain of events, in response to questions raised in a release from the United Progressive Party, UPP.
The Department says having met all requirements, the passengers were granted visas on arrival. It says this is a procedure for which the law provides, and which is applied in the cases of many visitors from other countries. Immigration officials also indicate that the Government collected $25,000 in visa fees from the passengers on this Charter flight.
The Department also says many of these passengers are booked on onward flights to other destinations in the Caribbean, and full records have been maintained of their biometric details.
Immigration Minister Hon. E.P Chet Greene has rubbished suggestions of political undertones to these charter flights.
