Chairman of ABEC reassures the Public of No delay in distribution of ID cards
Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) Chairman Juno Samuel is reassuring the public that there will be no delay in the distribution of Voter ID cards.
This comes after speculations about whose signature should be featured on the cards, but Samuel says from the Commission’s inception the Chairman’s signature has always been attached.
Samuel adds that neither the commission nor the Chairman was consulted on replacing the authorizing signature with that of the Chief Registration Officer Lorna Simon.
He says he’s adamant that the process of will not be delayed by the decision to reprint the affected cards.
Meanwhile, Samuel dispels claims that there is a $18,000 dollar cost associated with the process, since the 1,700 plus ID cards were already printed, bearing the Chief Registration Officer Lorna Simon’s signature have to be scrapped.
